I am tuckered out! Fumes and smoke cover my tracks from the exhaust manifold of this term. My car is pulling up to the gas station in one of those old movies, the engine is banging, the hood is dented and the car is covered in an inch of thick dust. Oh, but I made it!
This term I took a total of 12 credits, full-time, but not really, really, full-time. Some people coming in with 17 or 20 credits. Now that is really, really full-time. I have a part-job to go along with this all but that still doesn't put me in the dog house of really, really full-time. So what has been my problem, why am I all wore out?
Social-networking, it's that simple, or is it? I've really spent a lot of time this term, trying to follow social-networking trends on Facebook, Twitter, Blogger (I now have five blogs), Youtube and SEO (search-engine optimization) marketing to learn about how some people are using social-networking to make money and market ideas. The only problem that I have found with this is that the higher up I go the more frustration I find. When I come up with an idea that I think is my own, I find that someone else has already been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt.
I am adapting, I am learning and I will survive. I love the challenge of this race. Next term I am looking forward to taking the class, Media and Society with Rob Priewe at Linn-Benton Community College. I think this class will allow me to better understand trends and open my eyes to some of trends around us.
The term may be over, but if you are going to be someone that will move with the trends prepare to never rest, trends after all never take time off.
